Registration incentives

As of February 26, we are up to 162 registrations across all divisions... for comparison, we were around 130 at this point in the season.

Just like last season, we will have a weekly draw for everyone registered... the earlier you register the more chances you have to win.  At Day 2 of evaluations we'll do a grand prize draw.

Registration deadline for the grand prize is March 29 and final deadline is April 5.  Late registrations will be subject to waitlists and may not be accepted.

Try Ball Hockey Day

Do you want to play ball hockey but not sure if you'll like it?  Come to the Moose on March 24th with a stick, gloves and helmet, and give it a go.  We'll have some loaner goalie gear to try playing net.

The cost will be free and more information will be available in the coming weeks.

Evaluations

Evaluations will be held April 1 and April 3 at the Moose.  Younger age divisions will start at 5:45pm and the older divisions end around 9:30.  We understand this is during the Easter Break but due to the crunch of rink sports starting up and the end of the hockey season, the City has limited options for dry floor times.

Coaches

We will be reaching out to those expressing interest in coaching this season early to mid-March.  Our coaches are instrumental in a successful league and hopefully help us improve the ball hockey experience for everyone.

Team selections

In the past few seasons, overall, we've done a fairly good job dividing teams evenly but there have been some outliers and unfortunate situations.  This season we're looking to hold a coaches draft where the people who know the kids the best will pick even teams.  The formula on how to ensure teams aren't 'stacked' is being developed.  Our board and the coaches will tweak the process to make it fair and transparent.

The coaches draft will be held on April 6th.  Players will be notified early the next week with games to begin on April 13th.

Referee clinics

Ref clinics will be held on March 23 and April 20.  If you officiated in the 2023 season you'll receive registration instructions, otherwise email Tony at referee@gcbhl.com.
